Straighten Your Smile: Orthodontics

Straighten Your Smile: Orthodontics

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that corrects improper positioning of teeth and jaws. Issues like overbites, underbites, crooked teeth, or overcrowding can cause speech or eating problems and increase the risk of tooth decay and gum disease. Orthodontic treatment slowly moves teeth into their correct alignment.

Why is Orthodontic Treatment Important?

Misaligned teeth are harder to clean, which can lead to poor oral hygiene, decay, and gingivitis. An improper bite can also cause pain and wear on the teeth. Orthodontics effectively straightens teeth, closes gaps, and ensures your teeth and jaw are properly aligned, improving both your oral health and your smile’s appearance.

Our Orthodontic Treatment Options

Our experienced orthodontics team at Roots super speciality dental center, Guntur offers a variety of solutions:

Traditional Metal & Ceramic Braces

Traditional Metal & Ceramic Braces

Metal braces are the time-tested standard, while ceramic braces offer a less noticeable alternative as they blend in with your teeth. We also offer self-ligating braces, which use a special clip instead of elastic bands, often reducing treatment time and improving comfort.

Invisalign® Clear Aligners

Invisalign® Clear Aligners

Invisalign is a popular, effective alternative to metal braces. It uses a series of clear, plastic, removable aligners to gradually move your teeth. You can pop them out to eat, brush, and floss, making them a comfortable and virtually invisible option.

Lingual Braces (Invisible Braces)

Lingual Braces (Invisible Braces)

This system is truly invisible because the brackets are custom-made and placed on the inside (lingual surface) of your teeth. It's an excellent aesthetic choice for adults.

Specialized Orthodontic Care

  • Orthodontics for Children (Interceptive):Early treatment, sometimes starting as young as age 6 or 7, is called interceptive orthodontics. Since the jaw is still growing, conditions like crowding or crossbites can be easier to address, potentially simplifying future treatment.
  • Adult Orthodontics:You are never too old for braces! Healthy teeth can be moved at any age. Many adults seek treatment to straighten their smile or to realign teeth before other restorative work like veneers or implants.
  • Surgical Orthodontics (Orthognathic Surgery):For severe cases involving bad bites or jaw bone abnormalities, surgery may be needed. When the jaws don't line up correctly and braces alone can't fix the bite, orthognathic surgery is used to align the jaw, while braces move the teeth into their final position.

Caring for Your Braces

It’s normal to feel some soreness for a few days after getting braces. It’s crucial to maintain excellent oral hygiene, brushing thoroughly after every meal and flossing daily. You’ll also need to avoid hard, sticky, or chewy foods (like ice, hard candy, and gum) that can damage your appliance.
